芳香雙脒類的抗蟲作用，同干擾蟲體的需氧糖酵解和DNA合成有關。這類藥物 均會引起宿主低血糖。梨形蟲和錐蟲所進行的需氧糖酵解要依靠宿主的葡萄 糖。據稱這類藥物的殺錐蟲作用，取決于它對錐蟲需氧糖酵解的抑制作用和核 蛋白變性作用有關。例如，三氮脒還能選擇性阻斷錐蟲動基體
